We specifically planned for Siem Reap in order to volunteer at the Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary. We spent a ton of time researching the Elephant Nature Park outside of Chiang Mai, Thailand, and were fortunate to stumble upon the Cambodian sister park. I’m not sure we knew the extent of what we were getting …
Asia
The (should be) Seventh Wonder of the World
We went from Bangkok to Siem Reap. Cambodia wasn’t in our original travel plans, but the stars aligned and Scott had been wanting to go. It turned out to be one of the most interesting stops so far. The plane ride there was less than fun as the person sitting between Scott and Keali became disgustingly ill just as we landed. The barf bags on the flight required the top to be torn off prior to opening. Evidently, it wa…
Bangkok Aquarium
Thailand aquarium:
We visited the Thailand aquarium. In the aquarium, which was in a mall, there was a glass bottom boat. The glass boat was really fun, because it floated over some giant sharks and big fish. There was one shark that was huge, bigger then the boat! When they fed the big fish, the fish would go crazy and fight and jump for the food. I loved watching it.
After we got out of the glass boat, we went over to the king crabs which were bigger then my body!
Other things I admired were the penguins, octopus, and the seahorses which were really cute and cool.
We also observed a man made fish which looked like it had a big brain (I had never seen a man made fish before)!
We enjoyed looking at some snake fish which looked really cool.
Following that, we glimpsed at some colorful frogs. This picture came out really well.
There was also a section where you could touch creatures. I touched a star fish, a sea cucumber, and shark eggs. The shark egg was hard. The sea cucumber was soft. The star fish was hard and bumpy.
After that, we meandered over to the penguins which were really cute.
Next, we wandered in to a dark room with glowing pink jelly fish. In the room they had sea music on. It felt like the jelly fish were dancing to the music.
I would highly recommend this aquarium, because there was a lot to see and do. I do not know any thing wrong with this aquarium. I loved the glass bottom boat.
Dusit Zoo in Bangkok
Tuk Tuks, Temples, and Thai food
Bangkok was a great time. We arrived after being in Halong Bay and checked into our AirBnB. The apartment itself was pretty okay, but the location and the swimming pool at the hotel were unbeatable. (We were staying in a private residence inside the Ascott Hotel.). Our first night we went back to where Scott and I had eaten many times on our last trip. Located near the Peninsula Hotel …
